
The Propel America Admissions process
Our fellows are highly motivated young adults who want to make a difference in their communities by becoming healthcare professionals. Our Admissions team supports applicants through the admissions process to ensure they feel informed and excited about their healthcare career journey.
Eligibility Checklist:
Be a high school graduate or GED holder
Be 18-26 years old
Not be enrolled at another 2- or 4-year college or university during the program and not have received a Bachelor's degree
Be willing to meet immunization requirements for regional employer partners
Live within commuting distance of one of Propel’s employer partners
Be authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship
WHat we look for
Successful Propel applicants:
Can voice their own interest in the healthcare field and share their career goals
Have the time management skills and self-accountability to be able to manage their coursework and training
Have a plan for the support and details they will need to be successful: studying time, childcare, etc.
What to expect when you apply

STEP 1: Submit your application
Check out your city’s page to learn more about the careers we train for in your region to select the program that best fits your goals.

STEP 2: Complete the Pre-Screen Questionnaire
Tell us more about your goals.

STEP 3: Interview
Interview with Propel Admissions staff, and, if needed for your chosen program, interview with a representative from our employer partner.

STEP 4: Complete Your Onboarding Paperwork
Check your email for details of required steps and paperwork for the employer or training program: will include proof of high school graduation. May include FAFSA, vaccination, and/ or tax paperwork.

All Propel programs are tuition-free. Some require the use of some Pell grants if you are eligible.

Description Propel’s “train to earn” programs are unpaid but offer a stipend during your externship. In our “earn and learn” programs, fellows are paid from their first day on the job with the employer. Check your city’s page for more specifics.

Propel provides all fellows with a laptop, course materials needed, and lab supplies. Some of our programs provide scrubs. Propel also has an emergency fund should fellows experience personal challenges during their training.

Yes! Propel will accept additional applications for future programs if you were not selected. Applicants should make every effort to be responsive to our admissions team when they apply. We do not accept re-applications if applicants are unresponsive to admissions staff.

Propel students will be invited to a welcome event with their classmates and will participate in professional development prior to starting their job and/or clinical coursework. Professional development will be online.

Propel does not ask for or consider students’ immigration status in our application process. We recognize that not all of our employers or training partners are able to offer the same opportunities to students who do not have U.S. citizenship or permanent resident status, are DACA recipients, or have work authorization in the United States.
At this time Propel cannot sponsor work visas. You must be authorized to work at the time of enrollment in the Propel program.
