Ashanti` Young is Grants and Finance Manager at Propel America. Born in North Carolina on the family farm, Ashanti` comes from modest beginnings. It was not until her relocation to Washington, DC, and seeing the disparities within the city, that her passion for helping the community was sparked. Ashanti` studied a variety of subjects including: Victim Advocacy, Juvenile Delinquency, Criminal Justice Administration, and Information Technology.

In 2018, her son was diagnosed as non-verbal autistic. It was this revelation that transitioned her work in the community from just work to a personal mission. She is an advocate for Early Stages (an early diagnostic center) and mothers afraid to speak up for fear of labels, not knowing where to turn, etc.

Through her work at an inner city non-profit, she began mentoring adjudicated youth. It was a relationship with one of these youth that triggered a desire to do more for the at risk population. Ashanti` became a licensed therapeutic foster parent in 2019 and began fostering her mentee, the first of many.

Now, Ashantí spends her time being a mom of two, playing Sudoku and continuing her spiritual journey. Living by the motto: “The flowers of tomorrow are in the seeds of today,” her hope is to positively impact as many people as possible, in an effort to leave the world a more compassionate place.
